After a year and a half of exile, the greatest team in Second Football returns!
We're looking forward to having back all ex-SNN players who wish to return home, as well as training new serious players!
SNN FC's goal will be, as always, to play only for fun, and to respect the game and each other.
This will never be a home for cheaters and traitors!
For any unbelievers, let it be said that this is the *original* SNN, as the team was never deleted and it is now registered and paid for under my name.
A big thank you to Samantha Goldflake and the Vstex Company which have undone a great injustice.

This was a frustrating loss. An unregistered GK, poor connection for one player and ball ghosting through defenders. We can beat this team.

Things to improve;

Players need to be ready before the game.

If players are not ready or present there should be be reserve players ready to take their place.

We need to have regular, purposeful training sessions during the week.
I think that there should be a regular training session everyday at 12:00 (or another time)
for about 30 minutes.
Players should be required to spend one hour a week at purposeful training.
( It is not necessary to do training for dribbling, everyone can do that anytime at fun matches.)

Offense:

We need to have thought-out attack plans. From my vantage point it looks like the strikers
rely on individual dribbling skills to break through the defenders. That may work at first but
the opponents will get wise and concentrate on the ball handler and not worry about open strikers. Strikers need to be able to pass the ball quickly among themselves and to midfielders to force defenders to spread out. Strikers should work together in training to pass the ball around. I posted exercises on the other blog that I think will help.

Defense:

Rapien Wien was sucessful at taking advantage of the weakness in the SL defender animations.

They would complete a pass to a striker inside the penalty box and he would make a short quick dash into the goal. (On at least 2 of their goals I was right on top of the ball, I think Mola and Radu had the same experience). Tackling in the middle of the field is not too hard because you have time to set up and plenty of space and time to complete the tackle. Inside the penalty box the defender must tackle or knock the ball loose on the first try.

The opponents should not be allowed time to make an acurate pass. Midfielders especially and defenders should harass attackers and not allow them time to setup and aim a pass.

There must be training for intercepting passes.

Defenders should train for tackling inside the penalty box.

At least one day a week we should have a 30 minute offensive vs defense training session.

Preparations for the new season begin

SNN has begun its preparations for the new season with a friendly match against Derby County. The result was 8-9, but it really didn't matter, because the goal of the game was to get the team to play together. Some players played under potential because of the break they took, but I am sure their game will improve shortly. Also team play suffered and we need to correct these errors.

Here is our formation:
- first half: Deiv Michalak (unregi) - Radu, Cyndee, Phill - Stefan, Carl, Jacek - Nem, Dimitri
- second half (8p): Radu - Jacek, Cyndee, Phill - Stefan, Carl, Nem - Dimitri

A nice and friendly game took place yesterday at Valiant's field. First of all, I want to congratulate everyone in the team for their effort to show up which put us in the fortunate situation of having substitute players, I think for the first time in four months. Gian had RL problems, but Cyndee substituted him as a keeper sucessfully. Valiant showed fair play and we look forward to meeting them again.

The game itself suffered from ball problems, which didn't stick too well to the players' feet but the team with better organization and better individual skills eventuall won. It's a proof of how valueable training sessions are and especially the tactical session we had one day before the game. I had internet problems and I got disconnected during the second half but the team went on one man less and we scored two extra goals until the end after that.

I want to congratulate each and every player for the way they played yesterday. Let us show the same determination and joy of playing in each and every game!

Starting over again

We are on the verge of a new beggining: we have a new team and getting ready for a new league- the UKFA. Rebuilding is not an easy process but we have commited ourselves to it enthusiastically and with great confidence that SNN FC can be that great team that we all knew.

Reviving this website is, in this aspect, a part of the process. It has a new face, but it also links us to the past and new players can only browse through the posting history to get a glimpse of what SNN FC meant in the past.

Also, we've gotten a great influx of quality players lately: Odette, Bart, Proust, Carlo to mention only a few. As always we're interested in the personal quality of a player and not only in his playing skills. It's that SNN feeling that keeps us together and will help us move forward.

Tonight we are playing our first match after we finally managed to have a technical meeting. I am confident we shall look like an organized team and win, forza SNN !

L'SNN FC annuncia la conclusione dell'iniziativa di solidarietà a favore dell'organizzazione umanitaria "Save the Children", che si occupa della promozione e della difesa dei diritti dei bambini nel mondo.

A seguito della cessione di alcuni giocatori del proprio team, l'SNN FC ha devoluto l'intero ricavato delle operazioni di calciomercato a "Save the Children".

Siamo orgogliosi di render nota la cifra totale raccolta: ben 67.000 L$, che certamente rappresenteranno poco più di una goccia nel mare per i bambini bisognosi, ma che costituiscono comunque una spinta notevole verso l'interessamento alle tematiche sociali e di solidarietà anche all'interno del mondo virtuale di Second Life, ed in particolare all'interno del sistema calcistico SecondFootball.

Dopo il pareggio dell'ultima giornata, l'SNN FC ha chiuso al secondo posto il campionato.

Ora che il campionato è concluso nulla più mi unisce alla Lega Calcio SL che ha saputo distruggere un gioco con squallide furberie, prese di posizione inconcepibili, totale incompetenza ed assoluta incapacità di gestione.

Un plauso e un ringraziamento da parte mia va a Tobia e Astolfo, e a tutta la parte sana del sistema VStex che ha lavorato gratis e bene per creare qualcosa che solo a Dicembre sembrava una chimera. I miei migliori auguri a loro perché possano liberarsi al più presto da quel cancro che è la Lega Calcio SL e raccogliere i frutti meritati del proprio lavoro, regalando a nuove persone ore di sano divertimento.

Grazie allo sponsor Kappa e ad Alice che - al di là di divergenze su altre questioni - ha saputo trovare uno sponsor valido ed affidabile.

E' stato un anno di SNN FC in cui abbiamo avuto molte soddisfazioni sul campo (vittoria in Coppa Italia, secondo posto in Campionato), ma ciò che davvero resterà in me sono i rapporti personali: ho conosciuto alcune persone davvero speciali e so che un'esperienza come questa sarà assolutamente irripetibile. Quale che sia la strada che ciascuno di noi percorrerà da adesso in avanti, nulla e nessuno - nemmeno i numerosi personaggi abietti che da mesi popolano e rovinano questo ambiente - potrà cancellare i bei momenti trascorsi insieme.

Domani sarà un altro giorno e qualunque cosa accadrà, rimarrà sempre il fatto che ciascuno di noi è stato parte dell'SNN FC. Per alcuni di noi questo non significherà molto, per altri sì.

Grazie infine a chi ha saputo mostrarmi e dimostrarmi la sua affezione e la sua stima, spero di aver saputo ricambiare almeno in parte.

After our last two league loses plus several friendly's, I would have to say
that we have fallen behind.

We can not just show up at game time and expect to win.

There has to be purposeful training sessions to strengthen our weaknesses
and practice new tactics.

I posted this in March;

I played for about 2 hours Saturday with players from several teams.
The quality of play was very good.

There was more passing and coordinated attacks. (By Verona players I believe.)
I have made a graphic of one of the attacks on the other blog.
We need to try this and learn to defend against it.

To win games we need to stay ahead of the rest of the league with
new tactics and defenses.

There will be 22 games this season and we (and everyone else) will learn
to play better and better with each game. I've played almost everyday for
11 months and I am still learning what to do and what not to do.

Just think how much each team will improve their play from the first game to the last game!

How to lose.

I played in one game yesterday and watched another.

The thing that both losing teams had in common was
that they only had one attack plan( if it was planned at all ).

They did the same thing over and over, allowing the defenses
to adapt to their attacks.

In our game against Mediteraneo they started out successfully
with long shots, then we moved our defenders up and stopped
them by harassing them closely before they got to midfield.
They should have changed tactics.
They should have tried something else to keep us off balance.

In Vstex vs Koln, Vstex used a single-man attack repeatedly.
Defenders were able to gang up on him without worrying about
a pass to an open player.

Teams should have pre-planned attacks and switch them often
to keep defenders off balance.

These attacks should be planned and practiced before the game.

If not, they will lose to teams that do.

I don't think we have practiced as a team for 3 months.

SNN 4 - Verona 5 May 2008

Again a very close game against Verona.
And again, early in the game, we were taken by the surprise
of playing against a good passing team.
We fell behind quickly to a score of 1-4
(I believe that was the score at half time.)
But our defense adapted well and held Verona to 1 goal in the
second half while we scored 3.
We did very well at intercepting passes and defending near the goal.
I wish we could have played a third half !

Verona's winning strategy was to stop Zyl (he was complaining
about too many players on him), however I think this could have
been overcome with passing to open players.
They did this the first time we played them too.
We should have trained for this !
We need to have pre-planned offensive attacks like
Verona and Koln.
We saw what happened when 3 good-passing and tactics players
from Koln played for Milan against Verona.
Most defenses are not accustomed to defending against
a well-organized attack. (the weakness of the tackling
animation. makes it even more difficult.)

One thing I did NOT notice in this game was the use of the
look-down dribble.
That may be a partial explanation of the low score.
The game was more enjoyable.
I find playing against players who use this kind of dribbling
frustrating and aggravating.
It's not practical to have a rule against it but I think players
can be shamed into not using it.
If you see someone using this dribble to drive through defenders,
shout it out to everyone.

No fear, I'm not back yet!

Hi all,
yes I am alive, and I am writing this post in English so that most of you can understand it.
I didn't forget about all of you, and I miss most of you, anyway these weeks I am not really able to be there with you on SL.
I started having internet connection troubles, then I took the chance and thought that I really had to use my time to finish my exams (I did it!); now I am breathless because of the thesis for some time yet.
I won't hide I am glad I took back much time for myself, for my duties and things I had to do. Staying away from the web for a while has been salubrious, I guess, and not having connection at home helped me to use better my time.

Now I am here on our Blog - and not on SL or on secondfootball - because i just want to greet you, the team, the people i used to "meet" almost everyday. I don't care a bit about lots of people "elsewhere" - probably most of them don't even deserve one word from me. I wonder if somebody "there" now misses me or maybe gloats for my absence, anyway i still don't miss one single minute of my time spent with certain people (if any not-team-member is reading this, hey, you know well whether you are among that "certain people" or not, so stop complaining if it's not the case).

The only one reason that held me back in SL lately was the attachment to my team members. I won't dare to call you friends, because in my opinion it's not the right word to use when you never met a person. Anyway, I really care about you and I feel a little guilty for being far so long, but that's it. I heard that Tarcisio made a great job playing the role of the Boss in the meanwhile, and I feel really lucky having him there. I also know that others helped and keep helping him, and i want to thank every single person about that.

Moving on to "technical matters", if somebody ever wondered where the L$ (not the Kappa stuff) written on your contracts are (Tarcisio, did you pay out of your pocket, maybe playing as an escort night-time?), i want to assure that when I come back to SL I'll pay my dues, before the contracts end for sure, so that I'll respect all of them.

What else? One thing. That could seem dull but - who cares. I want you to remember that yes, you're playing a game, you're having some fun in front of your monitor, but the most of you are a group of people which met many months ago and keeps meeting for playing together. I want you to take this in mind. You can win and you can lose the games, you can have fun today or get angry for something, but my opinion is that the most important thing is the time shared together. It's precious, and I don't want anybody to waste too much time in silly matters. Ok, probably silly matters are the spice which keeps the thing alive, but I'd like you to enjoy your time in SNN, enjoy the company of your teammates, because every single person here is special in his own way. Try to ride over little troubles and aim to enjoy your time together. This is the real victory.

A game dominated by SNN from the beggining to the final, with good organization from our team, especially good interceptions and good finishing from our attackers. I want to congratulate all players and I am truly glad on how we played, certainly the most relaxing and well managed game so far. Now we must concentrate on the important Verona game ahead of us and I expect to see players training all week!

Milan 13 - Verona 10
(Game is under protest and may be replayed)

We knew something fishy was going on as we heard the scores
come in of the Milan-Verona match. How could the bottom team
in the standings win over the top team?

It seems that 3 players from Koln played for Milan under
different names (I think), bringing their passing tactics with them.
Koln is the best passing team that we have played and I think that
Verona had the same problem we had: they simply have not had
much experience playing against such good passing tactics and did
not have time to adjust their defenses to counter these attacks.
I did not witness the game, but I think this is a reasonable assumption.

Are good passing tactics and skills the biggest difference
between first and last place teams?

I think yes.

There were also accusations of cheating by using some kind of blocker.

We have lost 3 recent friendlys to the best passing teams;
Stuttgart, Koln and Verona.

We will lose again if we do not train to counter attacks like this.

I will draw graphs on the other blog of the attacks used against
us and suggestions to help defenses counter them.

Or do you think maybe I should put them in this blog for everyone to see?
Everyone knows what tactics are used as they play these teams,
it's no secret after the fact.
It would be helpful to everyone if they knew ahead of time.

I just found out a couple of days ago that tackling is easier with a smaller avatar.
And I found out today that this was discussed in the Italian forum of secondfootball.com
a week or two ago.

Someone should have informed the team on this page.

In Sundays loss against Perugia I had several balls ghost through me and
probably through others who did not know about the smaller avatars.

We lost by one goal.

Go figure.

SNN 9 - Perugia 10

This game was more computer game than simulated soccer.
Perugia was able to take advantage of the look-down dribble
bug and run through our defense. Do our offensive players do that?
I have no idea.

I would like to try a game with some of the rules I proposed.
Mainly the goalie box and penalty box rules, though I
think it would be fun to try the 'No Traveling' rule also.

On the other blog I posted what I think would happen to
gameplay if there was a 'No Traveling' rule. Check it out!

A Solution for the Tackling and Dribbling Problem?

I think I may have some solutions for the tackling
and dribbling problems we've had lately, and also
the unrealistically high scores.

We all know how difficult it is for defenders to
take the ball from someone one is looking down at the ball while dribbling.

The ball carrier will literally run right through the defenders.

But when you think about it, he is not really dribbling,
he is holding the ball like in rugby or American football.

In basketball there is a rule that says you may not run more
than 3 steps(I think) while holding the ball.

This is called 'traveling' and is penalized.

We need to have a rule to compel the ball holder to let loose
after a short period.

This will allow defenders a better chance of intercepting the ball.

I've thought of 6 ways of strenthening the defenses,
the first 3 are probably impractical but I will present them anyway;

1. Limit the time someone may have possession of the ball to
3 seconds or so. This will force him to actually dribble.
Maybe this can be scripted into the ball?

2. Like in basketball, limit the number of steps a person may take
while in possession of the ball.
This would probably have to be scripted.

3. Limit the distance traveled with the ball.
Again this would probably have to be scripted.

4. This one I think will work, it's easily understood and easy to
spot violations;

I've noticed at my home field that the grass is two shades of green,
light and dark.

Now suppose all the fields had the exact same shading pattern.

I propose having a rule that says that a player may not dribble
(using the dribble animation) the ball across the changes in grass shades.
And also that he may not dribble across the penalty box.

Teams violating the rules would give the ball to
the opposing team for a kick-in.

This would compel the ball handler to pass more often
or actually dribble the ball (not hold it with the animation).

Defenders will know where the ball is free and have a
much much better chance of intercepting it.

I have drawn some grass patterns to consider.
( See below )

5. Make the goalie box out of bounds.
Any ball that stops inside the goalie box belongs
to the defending team.

6. Make the goals slightly smaller.

I realize that everyone wants to make the gameplay
as close to real-life soccer as possible and that some of my proposals
go away from that goal,
but scoring 25 goals in one game is also very unrealistic.

Show this blog to everyone for their consideration.

At half time I believe the score was 3-3 or 4-3.
It looked like it was going to be a difficult game for us.

What happened ?

I couldn't see clearly what was going on across the field.
I do know that in the second half the ball was in

Did they lose a player?
Did our offense change tactics?
More passing?
More aggressive offensive play?
Un-organized or undisciplined defense?
Were they unable to counter the dribble bug?
(I assume our players were using it.)
Demoralized?

It's always helpful to know why we win or lose a game.

Teams need more players.

This was a well organized and desciplined team that we were not ready for.

They seemed to have 5 strikers spread out on our side of the field and passed
effectively to team mates who were always open.

We did not have time to develope a defense to counter this.
This is something that should be planned out ahead of time so
that we could adapt quickly.

I will have suggestions to counter this in the tactics blog shortly.

Lag Reducing Tips

Hey Guys.

I don't know if all players go out of their way to change ingame settings before a match in order to minimise lag but it really is something you should do. Afterall it only takes at most a couple of minutes to change and the same to change back.

I was at a match recently and they were complaining about the number of spectators and the lag they ultimately bring with them. Yet ironically the person leading the complaints (the coach) made sure he was still looking "pretty" with multiprim hairs and it was the same with the players on the pitch.

Important Tips to Reduce Lag

You don't score goals just by looking good. Remove all scripts and prims especially hair.

Open Edit > Preferences > Graphics

Draw distance shouldn't be any more than 96. I appreciate that at 64 standing at one end of the pitch you cannot see the other. Opt for 96.

Switch to the Graphics Detail Tab.

Have the following setup -

In Adv. Graphics you should be setup like this -

In General Tab, check the Never check box for Showing Names. Disable Online Friend Notifications and the other two Check boxes under it.

In Audio and Video, disable streaming video and music. Also disable Voice chat.

Open Client > Rendering > Types and have the following Setup

In features disable everything apart from UI which again helps the graphics based lag.

With a relog the settings changed in the client tab should go back to default.

Apologies if this seems a long winded process but its not really. Unfortunately even with this setup there is still going to be lag as the SL servers are not very good but I hope it can be of some help. There is a very noticeable difference when you perform these changes so please make the effort to do it.

If anyone else has any tips please don't keep it a secret - let us know.

I played for about 2 hours Saturday with players from several teams.

The quality of play was very good.
There was more passing and coordinated attacks.
(By Verona players I believe.)

I have made a graphic of one of the attacks on the other blog.
We need to try this and learn to defend against it.

To win games we need to stay ahead of the rest of
the league with new tactics and defenses.

There will be 22 games this season and we (and everyone else)
will learn to play better and better with each game.
I've played almost everyday for 11 months and I am
still learning what to do and what not to do.

Just think how much each team will improve their play
from the first game to the last game!
Any newly formed teams for next season are in big trouble !

Substitute Players?

SNN beat Juventus today 12-1.

The reason for the lop-sided score was that Juventus
did not have enough players, only 6 or 7.
They played well, but if they went on the offensive and
lost the ball, their defenders were quickly out-numbered.
If they had most of their players on defense and passed
downfield, their forwards were out-numbered.

I was thinking it might be helpful if there was a pool of substitute players
that teams that were short of players could draw from.
I'm sure there are many people who would like to play
on teams but do not have the time to commit to regular games and practices.

It would make the games more competitive and scores more realistic.

This was actually a very close game.
In my opinion the difference was training
at offensive tactics by Verona and our lack
of experience playing against well-organized
teams.

I can't see everything that is going on in the field,
I'd like to hear other players viewpoints.
People on the sidelines can often see better
what is going on than the players.

This was a fun, tough game.
We can beat them.
We will play better next time.

Beautiful match yesterday with a worthy opponent which we defeated a lot easier than we thought initially. Our team's appetite for scoring was so big that we didn't stop for the whole match and didn't give them any opportunity. We also tried a new formation that seemed to work very well especially in keeping the posession and recovering the ball. The lag wasn't as bad as I expected for me, but our opponents have said it was quite big for them. I don't know how it was for our other team mates.

Special note goes to Vstex who, even if losing at that score, showed sportsmanship and fair play and sportsmanship and we remained on friendly terms with them.

We started in five against nine, and we played through the first half like this:
Ciona - Beavis, Mola - Radu, Zyl

Ciona tried to keep the ball out of the net while Beavis and Mola spread efficiently across the field recovering valueable balls to me and Zyl. In the final of the first half, Merchant joined us and it was a fiery first game for him, but I think he learned a lot from his match. I want to congratulate him for his start.

After the break, we finally had a goalkeeper as Darian came around and we finally could organize he defence in a diamond shape with Ciona behind the line of three:
Darian - Ciona - Merchant, Beavis, Mola - Radu, Zyl

A special note to the Verona team who throughout the match showed deep frustration and
hatred towards us, we didn't feel welcome at all and neither respected and all they did was to insult us and accuse us of cheating, while not seeing the ridiculous of the situation they were in, losing with 2 or 3 players more all times. Verona - not a friend of us, a team that we must ignore and just beat in the league as we did today.

Overall, it was Zyl's match. He scored 7 of our goals, while the rest of the team showed fantastic organization and dedication in feeding the ball to him.

I would like to ask all our players to try and be available each day at around 1pm SL time because in this period we might be playing a lot of matches and I don't want this situation to happen again (as glorious as it turned to be eventually).

Yesterday we were only 5, think of what we can do when we play in 9 we will be unstoppable!

SNN - AC Perugia 8-4 (6-1)

Yesterday we played a friendly match against Perugia, which should have been the first match in a small cup competition. Because the organizers (Lazio) didn't provide us with a valid referee, the match wasn't registered on the secondfootball.com website, and such wasn't official. However, it was a good practice where we saw our team's strengths and minuses with the new hud.

I was satisfied with the performance of all our players and I think we should have won with a larger margin (we missed two penalties). The defenders did a good job in recovering the ball and passing forward, although passing is a bit tough with the new hud because it is charging too slow. Also tackling is very problematic, especially in big laggy conditions. But they did well nevertheless. Same thing about Cyndee and Mola who recovered well and passed well. In the attack, we did okay and scored enough goals to win.

This was the starting team (as Ciona chose not to start the game without a referee):

I don't remember exactly who scored but I'll research it to enter in our match history statistic.
Perugia showed fair play and we look forward to playing to them again.

On Wednesday, we have two maches in the cup (if it's still being played): against Vstex and Lazio. Let's hope we show the same determination in those games and win again.

New Ball and New Game.

The new ball has been out for about 3 weeks now, everyone has played with it.

Here are some thoughts and opinions about it from myself and others;

It rolls very little before stopping, this makes it much easier for the goalie to block shots.
( Does the goalie animation work? I can't download it. )

Long shots from mid-field are no longer practical.

It shoots straight while running forward. Very easy to aim.
I think it's a bit too easy, I would like to see tha ball handler run at
a slight angle like with the old ball.

Full power shots seen to go over the goal if elevated even just a little.

It is easier to shoot while running sideways.

The longer you hold down the shoot key the farther it goes.
However, the ball seems to shoot the same distance at different levels of stamina.
I experimented shooting while running at different stamina levels.
The distance the shot traveled did not vary much.
The distance traveled seemed to vary more with the elevation of the shot.

Stamina;
At 7% you become useless.
I did not see any difference in running speeds above 7%
At all different levels of stamina above 7% it took 22 seconds to run across the field.

I think it would make play more realistic if players would
lose maybe 1% speed with every 5% loss in stamina.
This would make the defenders relativetly more stronger than the attackers
and force them to use passing tactics.
Another suggestion I've heard is to reduce the speed of the ball carrier slightly.
As it is now, a single defender can do nothing to stop an attacker if he gets past him.
Defenders must not let the attacker get past them.
There is no extra speed with the tackle.
If extra speed is added to the tackle maybe it could be disabled on the ball handler.
Talk to other players on other teams about this.

The ball is much more sticky now, passing is more reliable.

I think good passing and tactics are what is going to separate the better teams
from the weaker ones.

I played my first game today with the new ball. We were beaten easily.
The other team has apparently been practicing passing and was able
to get around our defenders.

Overall , the new ball is a big improvement over the old ball.
Game play is much more realistic and will require
better teamwork.

I think the player in other leagues will want to play with this ball instead of the old ones.

I've had players from Japanese teams ask if they can get this ball for their fields.
Will it be distributed or sold?

Purtroppo credo che come al solito la decisione sia frutto di una proposta da parte di un paio di persone che non riflettono (come non riflettono da mesi) sulle conseguenze delle cose, e del solito lassismo di tutti gli altri che si accodano a tutto ciò che all'apparenza è bello e carino, con un sorriso e un "sì", in modo da essere tanto simpatici e benvoluti.

Tutto questo per dire che chi di voi volesse andare a queste riunioni a scontrarsi con certi cervelloni e geni del calcio, me lo faccia sapere. Io ho già fatto troppo, all'inizio non pensavo che sarei stato l'unico con l'intelligenza da capire certe cose elementari e con le palle per lottare affinché le decisioni si prendessero con criterio. Purtroppo è più o meno così. Solo Tarcisio pare avere un po' di buon senso e di cervello, non per niente è stato nominato DG. Questo non vuol dire che lui debba sempre sobbarcarsi il peso di lottare contro i mulini a vento al posto mio.

Se qualcun altro avesse voglia di perdere tempo parlando ai muri lo dica, vediamo cosa si può fare.

Giorno dopo giorno sto scoprendo, e mai direttamente dagli interessati, che diversi giocatori stanno facendo i loro comodi di nascosto, giocando in altre squadre, allenate da ladri e disonesti, per tornei organizzati da ladri e disonesti. Non è tanto il fatto che alla fine, per giocare un po' di più, uno vada a giocare anche altrove. Io non sono e non mi sento il padrone di nessuno. Il problema che mi fa veramente venire la nausea è che ogni volta devo venirlo a scoprire da altri. Nessuno è venuto a dirmi niente, o a chiedermi niente. Tutto di nascosto, tutto senza dire nulla. Nonostante tutta la correttezza, l'onestà, la fiducia che sento di aver mostrato nei confronti di tutti.

Forse qualcuno non ha nemmeno lontanamente l'idea (o magari semplicemente se ne frega) di quanti sacrifici, quanto tempo, quanto impegno ci ho messo e ci sto mettendo per far sì che questo campionato che sta per partire esista. Quanto tempo, quanto impegno per trovare sponsor, fondi per dare premi ai giocatori, quante discussioni per il bene della squadra.

Qualcuno che ci tiene veramente alla squadra e alla propria faccia c'è, e ne sono cosciente, ma ormai sono davvero troppe le persone che sto scoprendo a deludermi. Ed io che da sempre combatto per quello che credo giusto, mi chiedo perché diavolo dovrei continuare a fare sacrifici e a regalare i miei sforzi per persone che ricevono la mia correttezza e la mia dedizione e mi restituiscono fango.

Stasera c'è una riunione nella quale si decideranno cose molto importanti per il campionato. Finora non ne ho mancata una, e non sono mai andato lì per me, ma per voi.

Beh, oggi non ci andrò perché non credo che la squadra si meriti tutto quello che io le sto dando. Mi dispiace per le persone in gamba, che ci sono, ma penso che loro sapranno capirmi.

Qui non si tratta più di una questione di gioco, si tratta di falsità . Falsità di diverse persone, ed io le persone false proprio non le sopporto.

Here is some information I've found about reducing lag.
I'm not certain about some of the things and I've also found contradicting
settings written by different people.
If you know a better setting or see an error let me know and I will update this blog.

Setting your computer to these settings will reduce the appearance of SL but hopefully
reduce lag to an acceptable level. I had these settings at our last game and the lag
was not bad. In the previous three games the lag was so bad for me that I could not
play effectively and even thought of dropping out of the game.

I've noticed that at TIM Stadium that they have moved the field to the edge of the region
to separate the players from the spectators. Also, during games,only players may enter the field.

Look for sites that have lag information and experiment with settings.

Take off all unnecessary attachments. Tell spectators to do likewise.

No one should be using dial-up. It causes lag for everyone ( 2006 )

Domenica 20 Gennaio si è giocata allo stadio del Mediterraneo un'amichevole tra l'omonima squadra e l'SNN F.C. Il risultato finale è di quattro reti a favore del nostro team e nessuna segnatura per i padroni di casa. Anche in questa occasione è stato difficile esprimere un buon gioco a causa del lag che ha portato anche ad alcune interruzioni del match.

The game yesterday was the laggiest game I've played in.
I not see the ball most of the game.
Mostly I could only see it when it was stationary.
When it was kicked it would dissappear.
Sometimes I would see the ball on the field,
but it was not actually there.
Players, and the ball, would dissappear and re-appear elsewhere.
When a group of players approached me I had to
try and guess who had the ball.
I actually intercepted a couple of balls by listening to the sound!

I don't think official games should be played when the lag is this bad.
They should be postponed to a weekday.

Qualche aggiornamento sul campionato.Roma, Verona, Juventus e Lazio hanno abbandonato ISN per partecipare al campionato della Lega Calcio SL e anche il Parma potrebbe presto farlo. A questo punto siamo 10/11 squadre per il campionato che dovrebbe partire a metà gennaio.
Io ovviamente non sono la Lega Calcio e non posso decidere chi farà parte del nuovo campionato, ma farò tutto quello che posso perché non vengano ammesse persone di livello infimo e squallido come Scalax Flanagan, presidente del Napoli. Invito tutti i giocatori e membri dello staff a fare attenzione a lui e ad Emanuele Hax, ex ct della nazionale, esonerato da chi l'aveva nominato, ossia la Lega Calcio. Entrambi stanno diffondendo notizie false nel tentativo disperato di demolire il campionato.
Se Hax si sta comportando come un bambino vendicativo cui hanno sottratto un giocattolo, Flanagan sta attuando una vera strategia terroristica, subdola e squallida. Ritenetevi tutti fortunati del non dover partecipare a riunioni in cui questo soggetto esclama davanti a tutti che "prima deve morire quella t. di tua madre e poi tu".
Il suo atteggiamento che chiamare camorristico è ben poco, sta causando grossi problemi, quindi finché non sarà escluso da qualsiasi cosa che si vuole provare a mettere su, sarà dura creare qualcosa di costruttivo, come noi altri 10 presidenti stiamo invece cercando di fare.
In particolare esprimo solidarietà a tutti i campani, della mia squadra e non, che spesso si ritrovano apostrofati con insulti razzisti per colpa di individui come Scalax Flanagan. Tutte le persone intelligenti sanno che i campani sono gente meravigliosa, e che tutte le cose orride che gli ignoranti dicono su tutti i campani sono a causa di quelle poche mele marce nel cesto che ne contiene invece tante altre squisite. Dico questo perché quell'individuo spregevole va in giro a dire che io sono razzista verso i campani: così non è, e persone come cobain86, felix e altri possono testimoniarlo. Anzi, probabilmente sono tra le persone che più stimo e con cui ho più legato.
Viva i campani, abbasso gli idioti, di qualunque parte del mondo essi siano.

We played them again Sunday and won by 1 or 2 points.
( I forgot the score :P )

How frustrating it must be for them!
They've lost 3 straight games to us.
They know they can beat us.
They have beaten us.
If a team played a perfect game and we gave it a rating of 100%,
I would rate them at 64%,
and rate us at 66%
( I think there is still a lot of things that could be improved )
I think the biggest difference between teams is
discipline, tactics and training.
I think we were more disciplined in this game,
though it could have been better.

We played an unschelduled friendly against another
team on Friday Dec 21. I'm not sure of the team,
maybe Verona? They had blue uniforms.

I believe we were ahead by one goal when the
game seemed to finish. There was no referee.

We did not have our regular offensive starters.

We may have been short a player or two.

One thing I noticed in this game is that they
got off more shots than we have been used to.
Zly, Radu and Tarcisio are very good at intercepting
the ball before our opponents even get a chance
to mount an attack.

The funnest thing was to see Mola take the ball
and dribble across the field running back and forth,
side to side and around and behind all the defenders
avoiding them all the way to their goal,
and then shooting,
and missing!
She did this twice.
A little more training on quick short shots and
she could play offense from the rear defensive position!

Ball Bouncing off Avatars

Apparently it helps to reduce lag when objects collide in a
certain manner if they bounce off each instead of stick.

This could be useful in gameplay if it is predictable.

I've noticed in the last couple of games that it seemed to be

Innanzitutto, complimenti a tutti per la vittoria della Coppa Italia SL.
Ho una serie di notizie da dare a tutti, cercherò di sintetizzarle.

Si sta lavorando per un campionato a Gennaio. Appena si avranno notizie sicure, le si diffonderà anche tra i giocatori.
Presso la land Italian Life sarà probabilmente costruito lo stadio dell'SNN FC nei prossimi giorni. L'owner della land Davide Forcella sta trattando la questione con il DG Tarcisio Ibanez.
A questo proposito annuncio la riorganizzazione dello staff societario con i seguenti nuovi ruoli:

Tarcisio Ibanez - Direttore Generale / Giocatore
Cionagrande Forcella - Allenatore / Giocatore
Cyndee Shepherd - Preparatore / Giocatore
Moore Tone - Addetto Stampa (se lo vorrà) / Giocatore.

Larry Pastorelli sarà valutato nei prossimi giorni come eventuale Allenatore in Seconda. A questo proposito proseguirò le consultazioni con l'interessato e con il Team Manager Femepsa Writer. Radu Lubitsch lascia l'incarico di Allenatore in Seconda e torna ad essere il Capitano, con la fascia che gli viene lasciata da Tarcisio Ibanez.

Diversi giocatori nuovi sono stati ingaggiati, per quelli che non si connettono più su Second Life e non partecipano più sarà richiesta la rescissione del contratto.
Le nuove maglie sono state disegnate, per il campionato verrà adottata una nuova numerazione ed i numeri saranno assegnati cercando di accontentare i giocatori per i loro numeri preferiti. Per ogni "disputa" di numero, sarà il nuovo Allenatore a decidere le priorità sul diritto di scelta del numero di maglia.
Invito fin da ora i giocatori a discutere tra loro e con l'Allenatore per la redistribuzione dei numeri. Chiedo anche che entro breve tempo mi siano comunicati i nomi dei portieri, in modo che le maglie da portiere siano pronte quando necessario.
Vista l'abbondanza di nuovi ruoli nello staff, sarà probabilmente necessario creare un tag unico Staff SNN FC per molti ruoli.

Per quanto riguarda i premi partita, la Lega Calcio SL ha assicurato l'erogazione dei premi previsti. Una quota dei premi, quando saranno stati erogati, sarà suddivisa tra i membri del team, che hanno ampiamente meritato ricompense, mentre un'altra quota sarà preservata per garantire alla squadra un minimo di fondi necessari per la partecipazione al Campionato.
Nella nuova maglia sarà presente uno spazio per un eventuale sponsor. Nel caso si presentasse l'opportunità di farsi sponsorizzare, i fondi per la squadra aumenterebbero e ne guadagnerebbero tutti.

Italy Cup is ours!

We won the Italy Cup yesterday after a very close match with probably the best team we've played against. Their defense and ours were very good effectively stopping all short-range goals, so the difference was made with shots from long distance. Our players adapted to my instructions and Beavis Beckham showed that he has a very good execution at goals from long distance. The attackers did more of a recovery job because running with the ball in a position you can shoot was virtually impossible. Cyndee and Moore did a very good job at the midfield harassing their players when they attacked. And the defense blocked some dangerous shots. A special thank you goes to Darian who played even if he was still upset at me (I hope he isn't anymore) and Felice who made his first match as a keeper, who both had good saves.

Overall, my feeling is that we had superior posession and territory and that's why I was always confident that we will win. The only problem was finding a way to put the ball into the net and we did that eventually. The opponents shot the ball outside after recovering, effectively copying our tactic, and my feeling is that they prepared for a defensive game against us (they never attacked with many players), leading me to think that they viewed us as favourites, which I think gave us a psychological advantage.

For statistical reasons, I will give the game info after each game we play (look to the right where I started a team game history section):

First half: Darian - Ciona, Beavis, Marcuzz - Moore, Cyndee - Tarcisio(c), Radu, Zyl
Second half: Felice - Moore, Ciona, Marcuzz - Beavis, Cyndee - Tarcisio(c), Radu, Zyl

Scorers (after the halftime): Beavis, Zyl, Moore and Beavis.

Please if you have data from other games we've played (scorers, teams) especially from official games, send it to me, I want to make a statistic with official matches played/ goals for each player.

SNN 4 - Bilionaire Club (Genoa) 2

That's what I told several friends who wished
me good luck before the game.

We have good players who train a lot, a general strategy
that everyone is aware of and the discipline to follow the
guidelines and instructions.
I think these are the reasons for our successes.
No one individul player has more ability than another.
No one can kick farther.
No one can run faster.
The difference is training, tactics and discipline.

We had a very tough opponent who had us stymied
in the first half of the game. Their defense had only
given up 3 goals in their last 5 official games.

What won the game for us was the ability to quickly
adapt to their style of play. A change of tactics made
by Radu during the half-time break made all the difference.
( I will write about this in our other blog sometime
during the week.)

I feel even more confident now.
We recovered from our mistakes.
And we were able to cope with a strong defense.
( That Jaicker guy looked familiar )

Big Lesson.

I was watching the Billionaire Club vs. Lazio (9-0) quarter-final game
come to a close and was going to go see the end of the Vstex vs. Naploi
game, I had IM's saying the score was 4-0 Vstex with only a few minutes
to go.
As I was getting ready to go I heard the score was 4-2,
when I got there the score was tied 4-4 and going into overtime.
Napoli won the game with penalty kicks.

I did not see how Napoli scores their 4 quick goals but have my suspicions.

The big lesson here is that a 4-0 lead late in the game is no guarantee of victory.

Every goal should be fought for.

If ahead, never relax.

If behind, never give up or become discouraged.

If they score, forget it, and concentrate on the next round of action.

I've heard that our next game is going to be filmed by http://www.slcn.tv/
I looked at their site, they may even have an announcer!

The German group at Calli's is finally starting to play soccer.
I've heard that they have 18 teams and will play 16 games for their season.
There are over 4,000 members in their group.

They are using the new ball that is still being scripted by Mark Lane.
(Right now it's like the first ball that we used at TIM; it shoots too hard, too far and too straight. I hope it ends up performing identical to the TIM ball)

I assume the French groups are also organizing a league.

There is going to be serious, tough competition a few months from now.
No one person has more ability than the next person.
What will separate the sucessful teams from the rest will be tactics, training and discipline.
For our next season I think we will have to do more passing to be successful.
I've noticed that individual players are still getting better and better.

Tactics will be discussed at a new blog for SNN players only.

I think Soccer is going to be the biggest thing in Secondlife in a couple of years.

Avvertenze per la Finale

Ricordo a tutti che, nonostante le problematiche che stiamo affrontando in questi giorni, la Finale di Coppa Italia SL verrà regolarmente disputata Domenica 16 Dicembre 2007 alle ore 22.

Quindi mi aspetto di vedere degli allenamenti prima della finale, e Domenica prossima vorrei ci fosse il team SNN quanto più possibile al completo. E' la prima vera finale della storia del calcio SL italiano, quindi sarebbe auspicabile un'alta partecipazione dello staff e dei giocatori. Anche chi eventualmente starà in panchina o in tribuna ha avuto e avrà un suo ruolo.

Mi affido al Team Manager, all'Allenatore, all'Allenatore in Seconda e al Capitano, affinché la squadra sia pronta per l'appuntamento.

Riporto sul blog un mio post sul forum di SecondLifeItalia.
La situazione del Calcio SL è precipitata in seguito ad un colpo di mano di una nota azienda che ha deciso di sottrarre tutto dalle mani della Lega Calcio SL e di organizzarsi per conto proprio, calpestando il lavoro di chi ci ha creduto finora.

Come primo gesto dimostrativo della solidarietà del Team alla Lega Calcio SL ed in prima persona a Max83 Sosa, l'SNN Football Club RINUNCIA ufficialmente al compenso previsto per il raggiungimento della finale di Coppa Italia SL, oltre a quello che otterrebbe il caso di vittoria del trofeo.

Noi siamo qui per divertirci, non faremo il gioco (sporco) di nessuno. Conto nella solidarietà di tutti voi, giocatori e non, che leggete questo blog.
I commenti sono aperti, segue il post che ho scritto sul forum sopra citato.

Io sono stato il primo a criticare, anche pesantemente, la Lega Calcio SL per la disorganizzazione, i problemi, i ritardi. Ma io sono un signor nessuno che da mesi lavora su un progetto senza guadagnarci nulla. Ed esattamente come me lo sono i ragazzi della Lega Calcio SL. Quando arriva una pseudoazienda dalle pseudograndi aspirazioni, intenzionata a rilevare tutto, non posso che esternare tutta la mia sfiducia verso questi individui che pretendono di arrivare a partita in corso, cambiare le regole e sottrarre un progetto a chi ci ha lavorato per mesi. Sia chiaro, nell'ottica di chi ha vissuto sulla propria pelle tutti i problemi dovuti ad una mancanza generale di organizzazione del calcio SL, se davvero arrivasse una società seria pronta ad occuparsene, a dare una struttura solida a quello che finora è stato solo un rendez-vous di centinaia di avatar che cercano di organizzarsi alla meglio, io non potrei che essere felice. Ma non mi sembra assolutamente che questo sia il caso. La prima cosa che farebbe un'azienda seria interessata a rilevare un'idea, un progetto altrui, a sfruttarne le "infrastrutture umane" create, è comprare il progetto da chi l'ha messo in piedi. E per comprare non intendo sborsare gli spiccioli che si darebbero al figlio adolescente dei vicini per la tosatura del prato. La Lega Calcio SL di certo ha fin qui lavorato pensando anche ad un rientro economico. E' del tutto legittimo, hanno lavorato e si aspettano una ricompensa per il proprio lavoro. Ma anche e soprattutto hanno lavorato per un "sogno", quello di far nascere un campionato di calcio su Second Life. Qui invece pare che la pseudoseria azienda non sia interessata a nulla se non ad incrementare il traffico delle proprie terre e a farsi pubblicità, ma non solo: parrebbe intenzionata a farlo sulle spalle altrui. Sulle spalle di chi ha dato una forma a tutto, di chi ci ha creduto fino a ieri. E l'apice di questo parassitismo viene raggiunto quando si scopre che si arriva anche alle minacce. Se qualcuno sta cercando di estorcere il Calcio SL dalle mani di chi l'ha creato, se qualcuno vuole prendersi le idee, i progetti e il lavoro altrui e per giunta gratis o per un pacchetto di caramelle, se qualcuno intende il Calcio SL esclusivamente come uno strumento per dare lustro al proprio nome e per ricavare introiti, allora io verso questo qualcuno mi opporrò con tutta la forza che ho. Con tutti i problemi che ci sono stati finora, l'unica cosa con la quale fortunatamente non abbiamo avuto a che fare è l'ingerenza di qualche pseudoimprenditore megalomane che arriva alla festa, ruba la torta e pensa che i bambini lo seguano. Noi non siamo qui per la torta, noi siamo ragazzi che cercano di divertirsi e di impegnarsi in un progetto che è prima di tutto un insieme di persone, e nonostante tutti i problemi che ci sono stati proprio a causa del fatto che siamo un'accozzaglia disomogenea di persone diverse, non faremo il gioco di chi mira a fare il "Padrone del vapore" esclusivamente per i suoi sporchi interessi. Per quanto mi riguarda tutte le pseudoaziende che arriveranno e pretenderanno di calpestare i ragazzi della Lega Calcio SL invece di comportarsi come vere aziende per bene, possono andare tranquillamente ad attaccarsi al tram. Visto che credono di essere aziende importanti, che organizzino il calcetto aziendale tra i loro dipendenti. Le persone serie, le persone oneste, le persone per bene non possono avere alcun dubbio: siamo ragazzi e stiamo dalla parte dei ragazzi della Lega Calcio SL. E fino a quando loro non avranno ricevuto una valida e per loro congrua contropartita, noi preferiremo sempre giocare con loro con mille problemi, ma giocare pulito. Grande azienda, prendi le tue caramelle e i tuoi sogni di gloria e ficcati tutto nella tua land. Vediamo chi ti segue.

Aggiungo che a seguito di queste mosse improvvide della "grande azienda", il Presidente del progetto Prometeo si è dimesso perché non in linea con l'atteggiamento del socio fondatore. I Presidenti di Club hanno indetto una riunione per decidere le mosse future.

SNN 5 - Palermo (Nikkedy) 2

Another strong performance by our team. We had a tough competitor with very good individual players but I don't think they have faced an opponent as organized as ours and needed more time to adjust.

Their attackers were continously harassed from their side of the field all the way to our goal. On one of their goals it seemed to me that every member of our team tried, and missed :( , a tackle on him. They tried several long shots but they fell short or were blocked. It must have been frustrating. I've played several of them 1 vs 1 and they know they can get past me, but, with good organized teamplay, if they get past me they are immediatly confronted by another defender and then another.

Two of our goals I think were because of things I have written about earlier;

1. Palermo's starting kick was missed and taken by Zyl for a quick score.

2. On a few instances they left their goalie all by himself with all their defenders behind our attacker.
I was a bit surprised by this since one of their players last week told me he reads our blogs. ( Is anyone reading opponents blogs? )

Something to think about:

Do you think we have played against a good organized team?
If not, will we be able to adjust quickly enough?
I have noticed different strategies tried by different opponents, so far we have been able to counter them.

But, I remember one friendly game we played a couple of months ago. When our opponent attacked, on several occassions they made passes that left our defenders completely helpless, but they failed to follow through with a score.
I am sure they are a much better team now.
That team was the Billionaire club.
They are undefeated in league play.
They won their last game 9-0
They play Napoli on Monday.
And we play the winner.

The Ball:

I have noticed lately that sometimes the ball has been bouncing off players instead of sticking the way we are used to. I saw someone step into the ball from the sidelines to get the ball for a kick and it bounced off him into the field and play started. That happened to me last week.

Lag

Lag was so bad at the first field we went to that we moved the game to another field where the lag seemed even worse. I thought the game would be impossible to play, but once we started it was not as bad and was not too much of a problem.

Spectators should be told to take off all attachments.

Perhaps the next game should be played on a weekday when less people are online. (Does that help reduce lag?)
I've heard that the sims crash when about 75 people are on the island.

Perhaps we can limit the field to players only and record the game for others to see? (Keeping the score a secret for an hour or so.)

Can the games be televised?
If so, spectators could be on a different island watching the game.

Is it possible to seperate the playing field from the stands?

I think SecondLife soccer is going to be a big sport in the future with large audiences. The soccer league bosses should start planning for it.

Will the ball dispenser be replaced with the regular ball?
There is a new ball there now but it still needs work.
TIM is my favorate field.

Practice - Offense vs Defense

Let's try a practice with offensive verses defensive players.

One point for the defense each time the ball is kicked across mid-field.

Offense starts play with a pass from center-field just like in a real game.

Play to 5 or 10 points.

Having numbers to look at will help gauge play.

Offense and defense can experiment with different tactics after each game.

I will guess that a full defensive team of 6 players should limit
the offense to 4 or fewer points in a ten point game.

SNN 5 - Roma 1

Again our offense dominated the game keeping the ball on Roma's side of the field. And when they did cross midfield they had problems getting past our layered defense. I can only remember one serious threat, I saw the ball kicked from close-range into the goal and thought it was a sure score but I was spinning around and did not see what happened (I use Mouseview) but apparently the shot was blocked by goalie Radu. Their only score was on a penalty kick.
( What was the penalty? )

Observations;

There is a rule that says that no more than two defenders can harass an attacker at the same time, Be aware of it. I think some referees enforce it more than others.

The opening kick still needs to be worked on. If the pass is missed it is an opportunity for a quick easy score by the opponent.

Make sure all the controls are turned on and working before the start of the game.
I think this happened to Radu and has happened to me several times in practice.
This is a simple thing that could cost a goal and the game.

Another thing to be aware of:
A ball went out of bounds, I went to the sidelines to kick it back in, I stepped forward to get the ball, and it bounced off me into the field. Everyone thought that I kicked it in and started playing.
It was not a problem, but what if I had been facing our goal when I stepped into it? It could have turned into a score against us.
So, to be safe, make sure you are not facing our goal when stepping in from the sidelines to kick a ball.

A kick from the sidelines will go farther if you take a step or two before kicking.

If an attack comes from the right side of the field the left-side defenders should move towards our goal and vice-versa. The main thing is that if an attacker gets past a defender there should always be another defender ready to harass him.

Offensive players remember to be ready to receive passes from defenders.
Resist the temptation to follow the ball all the way to our goal.

Use your discretion, all the statements I've made on gameplay are guides,
the main goal is to win the game.

Tell those team mates that don't speak English to find someone to read the guidelines to them. Everyone should be aware of the general tactics.

1. I have nominated Moore as admin
2. I have moved down the standings in the League (because it's not being played) and created results for the Cup
3. I have made a list of reserve players
4. I am planning a list of SNN's matches, please if you have the rosters from all the games or at least the goal scorers, comment to this post
5. Updated the staff members list section
6. I have added small flags next to each player's name :D I hope you like them :D

Repeating what I said when I started the blog and what I communicated back then and yesterday by a group notice:

Innanzitutto, sono contento di sapere che Radu è vivo. Avrei voluto dirlo in commento al suo post, ma non ho potuto perché il post non prevede possibilità di risposta.

Scrivo questo post per dire che, al di là degli infiniti problemi che si stanno manifestando nel Calcio SL (soprattutto nella Lega Calcio SL) che probabilmente causeranno un futuro non molto roseo per questo "sport", abbiamo un problema riguardante il blog.
Al momento solo Radu ha i diritti di amministratore e può modificare l'interfaccia, aggiornare classifiche, proporre sondaggi, e soprattutto invitare altri utenti ad acquisire i diritti per scrivere post.
Visti i prolungati problemi che affliggono il PC di Radu, chiederei ufficialmente a Radu di dare i poteri di amministratore anche ad altre persone. Una buona lista secondo me sarebbe formata dal sottoscritto, da Femepsa Writer e da Moore Tone. Credo che questo sia tecnicamente possibile, qualora non lo fosse vedremo cosa fare.
Inoltre è necessario che tutti i giocatori e il nuovo allenatore, come detto, abbiano la possibilità di scrivere i propri post. Se Radu per evidenti motivi non può occuparsi di questo, appena avrà passato i poteri di amministratore a qualcun altro, cercheremo di ovviare al problema.

First of all, I want to congratulate everyone for the wonderful wins against Napoli, Verona and Itland. I was absent all the time from Second Life, but I was with you, checking SNN's results when I could. I knew all along how good a team we are, that we could qualify and we had it in us all the time and that the first match against Verona was a sad accident, which was not entirely our fault. I want to express my congratulations towards all the players who fought to win and worked hard to become better.

Secondly, I think I owe everyone an explanation for my absence these weeks. I had and still have a very big problem with my computer's hard disk. It seems to have become infected by a very powerful virus, about three weeks ago and nothing that I tried solved the problem. I am not a computer beginner so I did
try a lot of things, and used a lot of powerful software tools, but to understand the gravity of the situation, I can't format it or I can't partition it
. It seems that the File Allocation Table is either physically damaged (which I don't think is the case, because i never move my hard disk around) or infected with a powerful boot virus which resides in the BIOS also, because erasing the MBR and the FAT doesn't work. I don't want to spend money on another hard disk because I really think the cause is not physical here. And I am very sad that I couldn't join you in the games that our team played all this period. I am now using Linux Boot CD which enables me to connect to the internet because it creates a virtual drive where it installs itself. But I cannot install anything permanent here, I just have to reinstall the system every time I reboot (my RAM is only 1 GB). I'll try to fix the problem as soon as possible so I can play with SNN again.

I miss all the team very much. Please fight and win with Roma! We are the best!

During my absence, I nominate Cyndee Sheperd for the post of second coach. Of course, Tarcisio Ibanez should be captain in my absence, if he's not there Moore Tone should take his place.

SNN 10 - Itland 1 ( Friendly Nov. 21 )

Outstanding game by our offensive players !

What stood out for me was the tackling done by the offense.
They would continuously intercept the ball from Itland before they had a chance to get into our side of the field.
The ball must have been on their side of the field 70% of the time.

Another thing I noticed was that the shooting was more accurate.
I don't remember seeing the ball go far off-target like in previous games.

Itland has only given up a total of 8 goals in their 3 league games.
I think this game will shock them into improving their defense tactics.
Expect a tougher team the next time we play them.

10 a 1 è un risultato che si spiega da solo, ieri eravamo imbattibili.
La squadra è stata ben coordinata e i giocatori estremamente efficienti nei loro ruoli.
La difesa ha fatto veramente un ottimo lavoro e i nostri avversari hanno avuto veramente poche occasioni di essere pericolosi (ad esempio la volta che hanno segnato).
Con un muro difensivo così forte è mia opinione che il nostro attacco potrebbe guadagnare in potere offensivo restando nella metà campo avversaria, pronto a raccogliere le palle respinte dalla difesa.
Questa strategia potrebbe regalarci secondi preziosi per posizionarci al meglio per segnare.
Ogni secondo risparmiato e un GRANDE vantaggio e quindi, mi accodo al consiglio di Cyndee di fare pratica sui tiri in corsa, sono tiri un pò difficili e non sempre prevedibili, lo so, ma veramente determinanti.

10 - 1 is a selfexplaining result, yesterday we were unbeatable.
Team showed a really good inner coordination, and every player was exteremely efficent on his role.
Defense made a great work and our opponents had only few occasion to be dangerous for real (i.e. the one when they scored).
Whith a so strong defensive wall is my opinion that our attack may gain more offensive power if stay in the opponents half area, ready to catch tha balls shooted from defenser.
This strategy should give us many precious seconds to reach a good postition to score.
Every second we can can save is BIG advantage, and so, follow this line, I subscrive for full Cyndee's advice to make pratice about shooting on run, it's always a bit hard and unpredictable shoot I know, but really, really useful.

I knew we could beat them.

French players started showing up at TIM a couple of weeks ago
and we added a great new offensive player, Syl Sewell.

Things to work on:

Picking up the free-rolling ball ( me :( )

Ball came bouncing into my area where I was all by myself,
I jumped at it, missed,
jumped at it again, missed again,
but still had a third chance, and missed again,
then an opponent got it and scored.

Opening kick.

I wrote about this a couple of blogs ago.
The opponents took advantage of the hesitation of the receiver
waiting to make sure he had possession of the ball
and made a quick easy score.
Offensive players need to train for the opening kick so that it cannot be intercepted.

Shooting on the run still needs to be practiced.

Tactics with short passes and hand-offs should be developed and practiced.
I think this will make a difference later on as opponent's defenses improve.

There was more play than talk this time. :)

Things to experiment with;

1.
When running forward and then kicking with the keyboard controls,
the ball will often bounce off your side and go off to the left.
It is hard to predict and control.

I've found that if you use MouseLook and aim upward, the ball will not hit
your side and will go in a more predictable direction.

2.
Defence.
In Tuesdays practice I tried standing still in the path of the attacker,
waiting for for him to come near me, then suddenly pressing the forward and sliding keys. This seemed to be very effective. (I use MouseLook)

A causa della precedente notice da parte di Maxx Flyer, che avrebbe dovuto reperire un altro stadio a nostra disposizione per l'incontro casalingo contro la Roma, vi pongo una scelta tra due alternative: giocare nuovamente presso lo stadio Starlife oppure invertire il campo e giocare presso la struttura della Roma.
Entrambe le scelte hanno vantaggi e svantaggi, dal lag dello Starlife al fatto di concedere agli avversari il loro campo che conoscono bene, nonostante il fatto che giocare in casa toccherebbe a noi.

Good game.

Defence limited Napoli to one goal.

There was more talking than game play.

What we need to train for;

( I hope I don't sound too critical, I know it's easier to say something than to do it. )

Blocking shots.

Get in front of the attacker just before he shoots. Do not slide or he will shoot over you.You must be near enough to him to rush at him when he is ready to shoot.Most shooters will pause just before shooting, try to be near enough to block the shot.

Eventually shooters will learn to shoot on the run, try to be just in front of him denying him a clear shot.

Shooting.

Offensive players still need to train for shooting on the run.

I think the sideways shot is straighter and more predictable than the forward shot, even though you have to take into account the direction you are running, and if using the MouseLook, the height of the shot.

I use the MouseLook and side-shot almost all the time.

There are two ways of shooting sideways that I know, one with the keyboard controls and one with the MouseLook.

The sideways shot with the keyboard controls very awkward for me to use, however those of you that use the keyboard may find it easier to use than I.

IM me for a notecard on how to use the keyboard for side-shots.
Try to keep it secret for our team only.

I've told three people how to do the sideshot, two with the keyboard and one with the mouse,and all three seem to prefer the regular keyboard control.

Defense.

I think the MouseLook is better for defense, it's faster and more accurate. The limited vision is no problem since you do not have the ball anyway and if you do get it you should immediatly kick it downfield. (Tip: I tape a string at the center of the screen from top to bottom to aid in aiming.)

Passing at ' Faceoff '

The opening kick has to be more certain.Right now I think it can be easily taken away by the opponents because the receiver of the ball has to hesitate to make sure he has the ball.

I think we should experiment with this;

Three players, kicker, 1st receiver and 2nd receiver.

Kicker does short pass to 1st receiver then immediatly rushes him to get the ball, 2nd receiver, positioned behind the 1st receiver, also rushes to get the ball.

Between the 3 players, one should have control of the ball before the opponent has a chance to get to it.

I've played 3 practice games in the last couple of weeks with or against pick-up teams. All 3 games where very lop-sided with one team easily beating the other. I was on the winning side twice and on the losing side once. What the losing teams all had in common was the lack of an organized defense. All the defenders rushed forward to intercept the ball, if the attacker got past them he had an easy run to make a shot at the goal.

Remember to position yourself to intercept the attacker if he gets past the initial defenders.

Also learn to position yourself to block shots in addition to tackling.

I think defenders should experiment tackling as a team, perhaps one defender
a couple of steps ahead of the other, striking first, and the second defender striking a half second later.

Another thing we should experiment with is short passes. Everyone has had the ball taken from them by someone who is just standing there asleep, sometimes it is even difficult to take the ball away from him even though his RL is not even there.

We should experiment with handing off a ball to a team mate who is standing still.
This could take opponants by surprise and give the ball-receiver a chance for an easy shot.

Another thing to experiment with is to hand-off the ball to a team-mate running in the opposite direction. Two players simply running toward each other and transferring the ball.

I play everyday. Everyone is getting better and better. I think that the champion team is going to be the one that has an organized defense and an offense that
is quick & accurate with running shots and is good with passing.

Li ho versati interamente al Team Manager affinché li suddivida a sua discrezione secondo criteri di merito e di equità.

E' stata auto-organizzata una sessione di allenamento per domani (Giovedì 25 Ottobre 2007) alle 22.00 (ora italiana).
Chi volesse partecipare può raggiungerci allo stadio presso lo stadio di Star Life [SLUR].
Ovviamente la partecipazione non è obbligatoria, ma non ho bisogno di ricordarvi che la prossima partita sarà contro il Napoli....
Se nessnun allenatore sarà presente Tarcisio Ibanez ne farà le veci per quest'occasione.

Lessons learned;

Shooting.
Let's see, you run up close to the goal, you have time for an easy shot,
you shoot, and the ball goes crooked, missing the goal!

The direction the ball takes when shooting while running seems inconsistant
and unpredictable. Radu thinks the direction depends on which foot is foward
when making the shot. Offensive players should train for shooting while on the run.
Go to an empty field and practice over and over until you know where the ball is going to go.

Defense.
I couldn't quite see what was happening overall, being in the middle of the action,
but I believe all the scores against us were at short-range.
Were we positioned properly?
Did we miss blocks and tackles?
Did they get lucky?
Did they have outstanding players?

One thing I've noticed playing at TIM is that when I play someone I have not seen before
it takes a while to adjust to their moves and style of play.
I did not recognize any of the players on the Verona team.

Small Field.
At the big field at TIM there is time and space to plan your moves.
Not so at the smaller fields. We must be quicker with no hesitation.
Defenders must work as a team, positioning themselves automatically.
Offensive players should be able to shoot on the run.

Virtual win and virtual loss

Last night, we lost. It doesn't really matter how, but Verona came back from 0-2 to
eventually win the match 3-2. I understand how everyone must feel, because I was
overwhelmed with anger and dissapointment immediately after the game too. But, after all,
what are we doing here? This is only a game, we don't win real money and I am sure most of
us aren't interested primarily in the lindens, but just want to have fun. We are not a team
of idiots. Let the others be the idiots. The ones that shout 'spacebar!' or 'flying!' when
a bug occurs while running in heavy lag conditions. Or the referee who then says 'well,
jumping isn't flying' and then all the opponents start jumping around.

What shall we do? Well, the game showed us that our determination and organisation can only
be defeated by chance or cheating. So I guess we must train to be able to cope with these
situations too. Also, we only received three goals, which is not much considering the
number of goals scored in the matches in the first round. We need to work in our offense
department to miss as few shots as possible.

But above all, everyone should forget the last match and concentrate on the next. We can win this match and a win is enough for us to qualify. There will be long discussions on
this theme, but the rules say quite clearly that the next criterion after the number of
points are the direct matches. In case Verona wins against Milan and we beat Napoli then
all three teams will have 6 points. In this case we should look at the direct matches:

Napoli-Verona 5-2
SNN-Verona 2-3
SNN-Napoli ?

Everybody will have 3 points in this new group so goal differential will be the next
criterion. Verona has 5-7 (-2). If we beat Napoli by a goal, we will have (0) and Napoli
will have (+2). Napoli will qualify first place and SNN second place. If we beat them 2, 3,
4 or 5 goals then we will have (+1), (+2), (+3) or (+4) and Napoli will have (+1), (0),
(-1) or (-2). Again the same teams qualify but we will qualify in first place then Napoli.
If we beat Napoli at 6 or more goals, then we will qualify together with Verona.
In all cases a win is enough to qualify. We should concentrate on training and should only
look at the next game.

I must congratulate all the team for their effort, the game was very long and everybody got
tired until the end and maybe that helped them come back too. I can't really put the blame
on anyone because I sincerely think we did good and obeyed the tactics which were again
good. It wouldn't be fair either to blame anyone but myself and I have to ask you for an
appology because I wasn't online this week and we couldn't train and also because I missed
some easy shots as an attacker. This week we will have a training session or maybe two. The
first one is likely to be on Tuesday or Wednesday, I will send a group message to all with
the day.

For the next match, there will be some changes in the team, the first change I decided as a
second coach is to give the fascia capitano to Tarcisio Ibanez which will be our captain in
the game on Sunday. This is only a temporary measure, seeing as how much one has to argue
in the field I decided to give him the opportunity to answer in Italian and maybe make
ourselves heard (because I had the distinctive impression that I was ignored because of
speaking in English, they didn't understand or chose not to say anything to me).

Last but not least, please read Cyndee's post as it is a good guide for everyone in the team and
we should take notice and play according to these good advices. Forza SNN !

Avulso

Tutto quello che ho voglia di dire è che non ho la minima intenzione di trascorrere la prossima domenica a litigare con altri presidenti per le regole della classifica avulsa.
Voi nemmeno immaginate che bell'ambientino di ignoranti e cretini ci sia (qualcuno si offende? Chi se ne frega!) e il solo augurarsi che comprendano le regole delle classifiche avulse mi pare del tutto impossibile.
Se col Napoli dovessimo vincere e il Verona battesse il Milan, si scatenerebbe una sinfonia di calcoli che solo persone normodotate riuscirebbero a concepire.
Quindi mi auguro dal cuore che la prossima partita (se ci sarà) la perderemo e contemporaneamente il Milan non risorga dalle ceneri e batta il Verona, altrimenti ancora una volta ci sarebbe una classifica avulsa di mezzo.

Non vedo l'ora che questa Coppa Italia finisca, quantomeno per noi, perché di passare il mio tempo su SL a litigare con le persone sono assolutamente stanco.

"Rules" for team players

Here are some of my thoughts on game-play.

Some of these are obvious but should be understood by everyone for better team-play.

I think everyone will agree with these. If you don't please post it for discussion.

1. Never do a short pass near our goal.

2. If kicking in from the sidelines, kick the ball into the opponants side of the field.
Don't worry about them getting the ball.

3. On defense, don't chase the ball if there are two or three defenders
already harrassing the attacker.
Position yourself in the attackers likely path.
If the attacker gets past the forward defenders be ready to meet him.

4. The best defense against a long high kick is to be directly in front of the
kicker or better yet, not to give him any time to line up a shot.
Meet the attackers at midfield.

5. There should be at least 2 defenders (including goalie)
between the ball and the goal at all times

6. Guard against passes.
Be aware of opponants who are open to receive passes.

7. Defenders who intercept the ball should immediatly kick it towards
the opponants goal. Keep the ball in their side of the field.

8. On offense and defense, someone should stand back from the ball
about 5 meters or so to recover loose balls or to re-intercept lost balls.

9. Until we get better communication from the referrees,
the ball shoud be considerred 'in play' if an opponant has the ball in our side of the field.

10. When we are under attack at least one of our offensive players should stay back
in the opponants side to receive passes.
