I'm not certain about some of the things and I've also found contradicting
settings written by different people.
If you know a better setting or see an error let me know and I will update this blog.
Setting your computer to these settings will reduce the appearance of SL but hopefully
reduce lag to an acceptable level. I had these settings at our last game and the lag
was not bad. In the previous three games the lag was so bad for me that I could not
play effectively and even thought of dropping out of the game.
I've noticed that at TIM Stadium that they have moved the field to the edge of the region
to separate the players from the spectators. Also, during games,only players may enter the field.
Look for sites that have lag information and experiment with settings.

Reducing Lag
Take off all unnecessary attachments. Tell spectators to do likewise.
No one should be using dial-up. It causes lag for everyone ( 2006 )
In 'Preferences Menu;
General:
Check 'Never show Names'
Network:
Bandwidth 300 - 500 ? ( Not sure about this, I'm reading in one place that it
should be at 900 and at another place that lower may be faster )
Disk Cache = 200 ( Not sure of this one either ) Clear cache
Web: Clear Browser Cache.
Increase Virtual Memory while you're at it.
Restart Computer.
SecondLife should be the first and/or only program you open.
Close all other programs
Graphics:
Draw Distance = 64
Graphics Detail;
Uncheck ' Enable Vertex Shaders '
Uncheck ' Enable Bumpmapping and Shiney '
Avatar Rendering = Normal
Lighting Detail = ' Sun and Moon only '
Terrain Detail = Low
Object Mesh Detail = Off ( left )
Flexible Mesh Detail = Off ( left )
Tree Mesh Detail = Off ( left )

Avd. Graphics:
Anisotropic Filtering = Off

Outfit Composite limit = 0
Debug Beacon Line width = 1 ? ( Don't know )
Audio & Video;
Play Streaming Music = Off ( uncheck )
Play Streaming Video = Off ( uncheck )
Default upload Bitrate = ? ( Don't know )
In 'Client' menu;
Go to client / Rendering / Types;
Uncheck everything except
'Simple'
'Character'
'Volume'

Experiment wih other settings.
I've also tried using the Wireframe mode (Ctrl-Shift-R)
but the chat boxes are not visible.
